Profiting from Resell Rights

Resell Rights (RR) are one of the best ways to profit from ebooks. With an affiliate program, you typically don't receive 100% commission. But with RR, you get to keep every penny.

Of course, the best way to get an ebook is to write one yourself. However, many of us don't have the time nor the expertise to do that so buying resell rights to an existing ebook is the next best option. There are lots of places that will sell you resale rights. One of the more popular sites is http://www.plrwholesaler.com (Disclaimer: Yes, if you buy one of the products attached to my links, I do make money.)

There are different levels of resell rights.

  • Resell Rights (RR)

  • Master Resell Rights (MRR)

  • Private Label Rights (PLR)

  • Giveaway Rights

Regular resale rights are simply giving you the rights to resell someone's ebook as is. This sometimes comes with restrictions like what price you can sell for, personal use rights only (PUO), what you can say in your advertising, and whether you have the right to offer resale rights to others or not.

Master Resell Rights allow you to not only sell the ebook but allows you to pass on the rights for someone else to sell the product as well. Sometimes your rights allow you to not only pass on the right to sell, but the right to resell.

Private Label Rights are one of the best ways to have resale rights. It allows you to not only resell the ebook but to modify it and claim it as your own. With good material, you can use PLRs to begin to position yourself as an expert in the field without having to personally write the material.

Giveaway Rights basically allow you to give the ebook away for free but not necessarily have the right to resell it. Oftentimes, the ebook contains links and attributions that provide traffic to the original author. You get the benefit of providing a free offer and bringing some traffic your way and the author gets the benefit of the traffic from those who read the information.

These different rights can be mixed and matched. For example, I have the PLR to the ebook Resell Rights Handbook. Included with the download was a script that allowed me to rebrand the ebook. Essentially, it modified the pdf file to put in a number of my affiliate links and put this website as a link near the top of the book. However, there are a number of links that belong to the original author and at the bottom of the book, he has his picture, some of his other links and his name.

You can grab a copy of this ebook and one other in the attachment section at the bottom of this article. They will give you a good example of a partially rebranded PLR product and provide you with even more information about resale rights.

And by the way, PLR isn't limited to just ebooks. There are sites like http://www.easyplr.com that sell articles, newsletters, training course, podcasts, videos, ezines, websites and small reports. Searching the web via Google will produce a wealth of products. One person said "If you can download it, you can sell it as PLR".

Many of the authors will even provide you with complete sales copy for your website. The PLR Handbook sales page was provided by the author so I could directly copy it to my site. Click on the link below to see the page:

Sales Page Offer for the PLR Handbook and Bonus

I only added my signature at the bottom and put in my link to PayPal. This leads to the page where you put the download file and it turns out that it's also a squeeze page for another offer that you can place. I suppose this could lead to an endless list of offers, but I do have the power to simply leave the page as a download and not add anything else.

End result, you can see that PLR is a fairly straight forward way to sell something you didn't have to create. If you could generate only 10 sales a day, at my $9.97 price, that's nearly $100 and you don't have to share a penny with anyone.
